Everyday Man Project - Trent B

Trent B. is a bona fide lumberjack. Unfortunately, he shaved off his beard before the shoot. Up on the mountain where I have my hunting cabin; he and the other guys he works with have been cutting trees to reopen trails, make way for some orchards and to cut down the elm trees that died from a recent blight. I asked him to model for me almost from the first day I met him. He was fascinated about my profession (working with models, the travel and locations) and said he would love to experience something like that. However, it took almost five months for him to agree to do a shoot with me. Trent has no hobbies other than loving the outdoors and enjoys taking his young son with him to go fishing and hiking. He also hunts deer during archery season; which he prefers over rifles. The weather has been crazy, going back and forth from freezing to rain and muddy with warm temperatures. Bravely, Trent bared the cold on a day just above freezing and took his shirt off for a few photos; the sun was out but there was a brisk and chilly wind. We took a few final photos and finished the shoot inside my cabin while warming up from the cold.

Everyday Man Project - Tom Jones

Tom is my nearest neighbor up at my hunting cabin. I needed someone to model for me to submit some quick photo ideas for a project. He just happened to drive by me one day so I flagged him down and asked if he would help me out with that project. His girlfriend thought it was weird and strange but he eventually agreed. We took some photos in the woods by my cabin. He also agreed to model for this blog. Bravely, Tom bared the cold on a day just above freezing and took his shirt off for a few photos; the sun was out but there was a brisk and chilly wind. We finished the shoot inside my cabin and hung out for a while talking. Tom is a carpenter working mostly in prefab home construction but used to work as a chef. His hobby is working on cars which I have seen him do when driving past his abode. We plan to do some hiking together soon.

Everyday Man Project - Winston H

I met Winston at a flea market. I asked him if he would model for me and gave him a card. Unlike most people I give a card to, he was excited and honestly interested. He texted me later that day and we set up a shoot in four days' time. We have since become really good friends. Winston works for an arborists during the fall, winter and spring cutting, trimming and shaping trees. During the summer he prefers to do odd jobs such as picking blueberries or house demolition so that he can have as much leisure time as possible to do his two favorite things, camping and hiking. He plans to hike the entire Appalachian Trail from start to finish one of these years. We did the shoot in one of the houses he is currently helping to renovate and then went out to my cabin to hike and take some more pictures.
